Fifth Report of Mali on the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity
The fifth National Report was prepared following a participatory process within the framework of the revision of the National Strategy and the action plan on biological diversity. The various consultation and framing sessions with stakeholders, on the basis of the directives of the CBD, in particular with the technical services, NGOs, women's organizations, private sector, university, research institutes and resource persons on sectoral aspects of the implementation of the convention, led to this document;
Biodiversity in Mali is characterized by the diversity of forest, wildlife, fish resources and ecosystems that serve as a reservoir for the survival and development of these resources. These resources constitute an important source of medicines, food and nutrition, oils, leaves, nuts and spices which are main components of the diet in Mali.
